Dr. Carlos Pires, of Lake Nona Dental Implants and Periodontics, is originally from São Paulo, Brazil. He received his dental degree in 1997 from the Universidade São Francisco School of Dental Medicine in Brazil. He is a specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery by Santa Casa de Misericordia Hospital (Piracicaba, Brazil).

Dr. Pires has a Master’s degree in Oral Implantology from Universidade São Leopoldo Mandic (Campinas, Brazil) and another Master’s degree in Periodontology from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH). Prior to attending Case Western, Dr. Pires attended three years at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) as a Postgraduate Student in the Department of Orthodontics (one year) and as an International Scholarship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (two years).

Dr. Pires received an award in “Acknowledgement of my Achievements” at the University of Michigan, from the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. He has published some scientific articles, and also has special training in Microvascular and Microneurosurgery at the University of Michigan; Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP); Image Guided Implantology system (DenX/IGI); Accelerated Orthodontic Osteotomy; and Pinhole technic. He is also the co-founder of the Dynamic Positive Pressure Sinus Augmentation Technique, a minimally invasive approach to sinus bone grafting. He is always continuing learning new and innovative techniques to better help his patients with periodontal and dental implants needs.
